It all started when Tristar Telecom sat #67 better known as "object 67" went down. Tripod FI N°|162845 was ordered to scan the area for any hostilities and to retrieve the valuable comsat white box D.A.R.P. 04. The downed sat was found quickly, but unfortunately no sign of the white box.... yet. The search went on for days and days but turned out to be a very harsh venture in this heavy dust covered place scattered with trip-mines and ambushes.
You don't need to buy kits to create some sci-fi miniature stuff. Just look around and you'll discover lots of broken (electronic) devices, toys and other inspiring stuff you intend to throw away but are often a perfect starting point to commence a sci-fi project.
A broken umbrella and a transparent perspex ball are the basic ingredients for the tripod. Object 67 was made from a deformed hairdryer inner-part.
The paintjob for both the tripod as well as object 67 was done using Tamiya acrylics, AK-interactive Panelliner & Liquitex acrylic inks for the paintchips & streaks.
The rubble for the base is a mix of broken plaster & resin 28mm facades from The Lazy forger. The covering ash is just "regular" ash from the fireplace and glued with 3M spray adhesive & PVA/white glue. The white metal figure is from the Games Workshop Warhammer 40K range.
