Wingnut Wings

World War I bi planes in 1/32

1920

Pfalz DIIIa

What a beautiful kit this Pfalz DIIIa from Wingnut Wings is. Not only this kit but the whole range from Wingnut Wings are excellent models. The rigging was done using EZ line, turnbuckles from Gaspatch models and superb fine rod from Albion Alloys. On top of the cake I added a splendid hand made wooden propeller from Properplane. Since Wingnut Wings is unfortunately no more I build this one and the other ones with exceptional care. Will dedicate this page to Wingnut Wing kits so stay tuned!

The hangar

Like I said it took exceptional care building this one. These kits are full off marvelous details and wanted to enhance every bit of it. The result of the wings took a lot of masking & airbrushing. The specific grey/gloss/silver color was achieved using a bare metal color as a primer, pre-shaded and by so enhanced the wing ribs and finished it with a topcoat of light-grey. All the decals were treated with several layers of AK-interactive ultra gloss varnish. The engine was pimped using resin spark plugs from Taurus models. Real colors from AK-interactive were used for the complete exterior finish. The cockpit was painted using a range of acrylic colors. The two guns are 3D printed ones from Gaspatch models.
