The build of this F/A-18C Hornet from Kinetic took me some extra time. Extra due to a lot of frustrations with the kit fitting/engineering. The nose, intakes, windshield & back end were a pain in the ass. By now Kinetic fixed some issues with this kit and that's good news since the Legacy Hornet is one of my favorite planes.
The build is pretty much straight out of the box with a resin seat and exhausts, some Eduard missiles and Cam Pro decals. The beautiful 3D printed figs are from Reedoak (I dig those!) and the tractor is from Skunk models. For this vignette I scratch build a small piece of US Navy carrier deck with 3D printed tie down points from Reedoak.
This vignette is sold.
Some impression of the build of the Hornet & deck.
The deck is on top of a wooden base laminated with a polystyrene plastic plate. After the lay out holes were drilled for the tie down points the texture was achieved using tampon acrylic paste. Airbrushing, masking, airbrushing etc...
Shading the Hornet was started with an extensive pre-shading session, followed by the top colors and varnish. AK Real colors for the top colors and Vallejo air for the pre/shading were used for this paintjob.
And always some mental support in da house.....
